How Vodafone Helpline Can Assist You

As we continue to provide our subscribers with the best network services, it is undeniable that you may have to face the inevitable: network issues. For continued quality service, the Vodafone helpline is always ready to assist you in solving problems you may encounter as you use our services.

5 Common Network Issues and How to Resolve Them

Before you contact our helpline, here are the most common network issues you may experience while using our services. We have also provided a walkthrough on how to resolve such issues if you need immediate solutions to your problems.

1. Unable to Connect to the Internet

Having a wireless network at home or in the office is great since you don’t have to stay in one place to access the Internet. However, you might face issues when connecting to the network for reasons you couldn’t just point out. Sometimes, your modem indicates that there is a signal, but your device won’t seem to connect to the Internet.

When you can’t connect, there may be a problem with your router or the network card itself.

Here are simple solutions you can try:

  • Reboot the router or modem. This usually fixes the issue.
  • Try standing close to the router or put your digital device right next to it.
  • In some cases, network cards can cause the problem with the Internet. The purpose of this card is to prepare, transmit, and control the network’s data flow. When this happens, you need to update your network card.

2. Slow Internet Performance

Everyone gets annoyed by a slow internet performance. Who doesn’t? It may hinder productivity, especially for those who are doing their school or office work.

One may experience a slow internet speed because of the heavy bandwidth usage or the hard drive space is running out. Sometimes, it’s because you may have opened too many tabs on your browser, or it may even be due to spyware and viruses.

Therefore, it is important to try and pinpoint the root cause of such a problem to find the perfect solution.

Here are simple solutions you can try:

  • Make sure that no one is streaming a lot of content under the same network account.
  • Get rid of browser extensions and uninstall applications you don’t need. Sometimes, it’s your device that’s slow and not the connection itself.
  • Delete large files from your device to free up some memory.
  • Restart your computer or mobile phone.
  • Power cycle your router and modem by turning them off for at least a minute.

3. Duplicate IP Address

When you share the same IP with another device, you may see a pop-up box on your screen saying that the IP is already in use. With this type of IP conflict, you can’t have access to the network.

Here is a simple solution you can try:

  • Change or refresh the IP address of one device:
    • For Windows with a dynamic IP address:
      • Click Start > enter “cmd” > Click Command Prompt > Type in “ipconfig/renew” > Press Enter
    • For Mac:
      • Open the System Preferences > Click Network > Select Wi-Fi > Click Advanced > Go to the next page > Select TCP/IP tab > click Renew DHCP Lease

4. IP Address Exhaustion

Another type of IP issue is IP address exhaustion, wherein you can’t get an IP address because there’s no available IP address from the DHCP server. Sometimes, the server didn’t receive the transmitted DHCP request from the device.

Here is a simple solution you can try:

  • Open the Control Panel of your computer > Click Hardware and Sound > Click Device Manager > Expand the Network Adapters > Check if your system’s configuration allows it to utilise DHCP

5. DNS Problems

Domain Name System or DNS is the Internet’s equivalent for a phonebook, which contains a numerical IP code and a decentralised naming system for devices and other resources on the Internet or a private network.

Usually, when a device encounters DNS-related problems, the screen will display one of these warnings:

  • The Network Path Cannot Be Found
  • IP Address Could Not Be Found
  • DNS Name Does Not Exist

Here are simple solutions you can try:

  • Troubleshoot
    • Locate the Internet icon on your taskbar > Right Click the icon > Click Troubleshoot Problems
  • After this, the wizard may automatically fix your problems with the Internet, and you can resume doing your task.
  • Restart your router
